The Machairas – Filani Nature Trail!
“A day spent in nature is the best therapy for your soul”

The Machairas – Filani hike is a spectacular nature trail nestled within the stunning mountains of the Machairas forest, in Cyprus.

The trail begins from the Grigoris Afxentiou Hideout, north of the Machairas Monastery, and continues its descent through the rocky terrain of the forest, along the Pedieos River.

At one point, the trail crosses a wooden bridge that joins the two banks of the river.

Although a challenging hike, with steep inclines, the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, the beauty of the landscape, the sound of the rushing water as we made our way along the trail, the lush vegetation and towering trees, all make this trail well worth the effort!

The highlight of today’s hike was the ‘Filani lake’, a stunning natural lake that was formed from an old quarry, which boasts crystal-clear waters that are home to sea bass, and an ideal spot for those that are brave enough to dive into the cold water!

A must-see trail for hikers who are looking for a truly unique experience.
