The Xilogefiro – Platis Vally – Xistarouda Hiking trail!

Wow, what a spectacular hike today!

I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done – the scenery in the valley is beyond comparable!

The first 1 ½ km was a very steep walk downwards into the valley,

Followed by an absolutely breathtaking 2 ½ km walk through the valley,

But it was all fun and games until we got to the very, very challenging 1 ½ km uphill climb out of the valley!!

Altitude: 1,100m

Distance: 5.5 km (linear trail)

Time covered: 2 ½ hours

A few words about today’s hiking trail:

The trail starts at the Xilogefiro bridge, a couple of kilometers from the village of Pedoulas on the road to Kykkos Monastery, in the Troodos mountains, Cyprus.

Platis valley is a valley of extraordinary beauty that is hidden within the mountains.

A dense forest of plane, fern, and pine trees line the pathway in all their glory, with small streams running alongside.

The scents that are given off are in a class of their own.

The area simply defines the poetry and harmony of nature.
